Options / Accessories

A wide range of optional equipment and accessories has been developed for use with the Carleton range of military rebreathers.  The company can accommodate new applications and customer preferences through an on-going development program and a close relationship with customers.

Some of the existing options and accessories include:

  • Buoyancy Compensator.  A range of BCs have been developed specifically for each of the VIPER, CCBA, SIVA-55/SIVA+ and the SIVA S-10/SIVA S-24 equipment.

  • Rigid Transit Case.  Each product can be provided in an impact resistant rotationally molded polyethylene case featuring a one piece box with relief valve and lid.
  • Padded Nylon Transit Bag.  The VIPER and SIVA products can be
provided in a heavily padded 1000-denier nylon transport and storage
case as a lightweight alternative to the rigid case.

  • Calibration and Test Accessories.  A tool and test fit has been developed specifically for each apparatus with all of the instrumentation, fixtures and tools necessary to perform both recommended and corrective field and depot maintenance.
  • Facemask Options.  The equipment is normally provided with a bite style mouthpiece for use with a diver's 1/2 mask.  Alternatively, the equipment can be fitted with a variety of commonly used full facemasks such as AGA, Cressi, Technosub, Scubapro, British AP mask and the newer DUI mask.
  • Dual Mode Mask (DMM).  The dual mode, full facemask permits switching between the rebreather and an open circuit gas supply such as in SDV operations or when an emergency bailout gas is provided.  It is normally used with the CCBA and VIPER-E apparatus.
  • Open Circuit Secondary Breathing System (SBS).  An emergency open circuit gas is provided for emergency breathing.  In its simplest form the unused diluent gas from the CCBA or VIPER-E main gas supply is routed to a second stage demand breathing regulator.  This can be supplemented from an independent 1.5 liter bailout flask and/or from an external gas supply connected to the apparatus via an underwater quick connector.  When an open circuit gas supply is employed, the dual mode mask may also be fitted.  An open circuit, secondary breathing system using the independent 1.5 liter flask and/or underwater quick connector may be fitted to the SIVA and VIPER-SC models.
  • Underwater Gas Quick Connection (UWQC).  A non-magnetic quick connect fitting and a short hose interfaced with the apparatus permits the connection, while submerged, of an external supply of gas.  Subject to customer operational/emergency requirements, the external gas can be used for open circuit breathing or may be used to supplement the onboard gas in semi-closed SIVA or VIPER-SC operations or closed circuit CCBA or VIPER-E operations.
  • Semi-Closed Circuit Independent Gas Supply (IGS).  An independent mixed gas flask with mass flow controls and 1/4-turn activation valve provides backup supply of gas directly to the counterlung of the SIVA-55, SIVA + or VIPER-SC for emergency use.
  • External Breathing System (XBS).  The XBS consists of two 12 liter cylinders of regulated gas in a protective framework to supply SIVA, CCBA or VIPER with a source of external gas via the underwater quick connector (UWQC).  The XBS can be provided to support open circuit emergency operations and oxygen decompression gas with the CCBA and VIPER using an octopus second stage breathing regulator or dual mode mask (DMM).  It may be used in the same manner with SIVA and VIPER-SC or it may be used to provide umbilical gas to these sets to extend mission endurance by providing additional gas for semi-closed operations.
  • Low Magnetic Tools.  Low magnetic titanium tools are available to prevent magnetic contamination of equipment used in MCM operations.
